Dear readers, I want to wish you all a very happy midwintery time. No matter whether you celebrate Christmas, Yule, another winter festival or none at all: may these days be filled with love, compassion, family and friends, good food and fond memories.
Winter festivals have an ancient tradition in the northern hemisphere. When it’s the darkest and coldest time of the year, let’s never forget hope. Let’s celebrate the promise that light will return eventually. And have faith even though we cannot see that light right now. It doesn’t matter if that light is incarnated Jesus if you’re Christian, or the actual light of the sun that begins to make it way back after the winter solstice. If it fills your heart with joy and hope then it’s your own truth. Pagan, Christian, atheist or other, we share that common hope for light and peace. Let’s remember what we have in common.
Thanks for reading and take care,
DS
