I’m a big fan of personal data protection, honestly. But. This new data protection regulation appears like waaay too much for small business people. It should’ve been aimed at the big guys, you know them without me needing to name them. But in truth, the regulation stirs insecurity and anxiety among folks that don’t deserve it. Many small blogs have already been shut down because people don’t really know what to do about and are afraid of doing something wrong and being sued out of their pants.
Even though I really don’t give a frack about collecting any kind of personal data, I’m forced to do all this crappy regulation stuff as well. I don’t have time to read through pages and pages of regulations so I decided to play it safe and removed a couple of features from my websites. No contact forms, no blog subscriptions, no WordPress like button anymore. Comments were never an option anyway. I’m very sorry and apologise for the inconvenience but this seemed to be the best solution to still keep my sites going. Otherwise the only option would’ve been to shut them down, too. 🙁
