Temperatures are getting warmer and spring is on its way; this always makes me think of my go-to spring convention: FedCon. Time to look forward to this year’s convention schedule! Together with the Verlag in Farbe und Bunt, I’ll be at three conventions this year. The schedule may change during the coming months, but so far these cons are planned:

• 30. May to 1. June: FedCon 33 in Bonn
• 26. to 28. September: MagicCon 8 in Bonn
• 6. and 7. December: German Film and Comic Con in Dortmund

Every convention weekened is like a mini holiday even though it’s very exhausting and sleep-depriving. As an ND, I need to pace and balance exctitement and breaks and be very attentive to my mental needs. Mostly, this doesn’t work out well and I need at least three days after a con for recovering fully. But that’s a price that I pay willingly for meeting my nerdy friends. Also, this FedCon will be the first at which I have medication to help me through the massive sensory overload. I’m curious how this will work out; expect a future blog post about neurodivergent experiences at conventions.

I’m looking forward to spending time at these cons! If you happen to be there, come and see the stall of the Verlag in Farbe und Bunt. I promise there’ll be books and audio books for every nerdy flavour. Besides the books that are already published, there will be some new additions to the programme which I’m excited about, not only because they are awesome but also because I have the honour to contribute artwork for them.
