Chapter 5 Title: Find out what the Atlantis team are up to and how why it’s bad if a puddle jumper meets a Wraith dart unexpectedly!

The story for this chapter was actually one of the very fist ideas I had for Hive 53 back in 2008. It took quite a few years until the comic was at a stage when it felt right to implement it. Hope you’ll enjoy reading it!

Workflow for this title page (and most other pages): It started as a pencil sketch. For the sketch I always use a light blue coloured pencil. Then I ink the lines directly on the sketch. When scanning the page, it’s no problem to let the blue sketch disappear by means of simple colour tweaking in Photoshop. Then layers over layers over layers of flat colours, shading, light and special effects. I’m pleased with the result because drawing spacecraft always takes me out of my comfort zone and I think it worked well this time.
